Vacation Rocks!

Just before Joe left for training, we went on vacation! Why not squeeze as much in as possible, right? We actually had it planned for a while, and it worked out so that Joe could come, which was great! It was so nice to have him to ourselves for a week before he had to go. So, we went up to Northern Minnesota, up past Duluth, to a SMALL town called Lutsen. We were right on Lake Superior, literally a stones throw from it. And we did throw many, many, stones into it.

There was beautiful hiking trails there with waterfalls galore! It was beautiful!

This next one kind of feels like a metaphor for our lives right now... ready to jump into the unknown!

This is one of my favorite pics from our trip, I love how they are looking at each other!

Like I said, we threw tons of rocks in to the lake. The kids (and Joe) could be occupied for a long time doing this!

Joe loved the "fresh air" and great outdoors.

He even took a dip in the 40 degree water of Great Lake. CRAZY!!!

We also had an indoor pool to swim in, which the kids loved.

There was no shortage of delicious sweets and goodies up there. We had some of the "world's best donuts" - and I would have to agree, they were soooo good!

We also calculated that between the 5 adults, we had over 20 different kinds of pie! There was pie to be had everywhere! We are at "Betty's Pies" here.

Kayaking was included in our stay at the resort, so we did!

Believe it or not, there is a "mountain" up there and a ski resort! Closed in the summer, but the alpine slide was open, fun!

Lastly, at the ski resort we went on a gondola ride, or the "apple cars" as the kids called them.
Beautiful place! We had a great time.

Here we GO!

About 18 months ago, Joe applied for a new job. In May, we found out he got that job, and would be leaving for training in June. So here we go, moving from a place that has been our home for 7 years, leaving tons of amazing friends and almost all of our wonderful family, and moving ????? somewhere! Sounds a little scary, but we are thrilled to have this new opportunity and look forward to finding out where it will take us!

No sooner did we announce our "leaving" and suddenly there was a farewell party planned for us. Thank you so much ladies!
...and gentlemen.

We also celebrated with our family, but all I got was a picture of was the cake! Then my camera broke.
