The kids get flyers from school for all kinds of sports, and finally one came home that they were both interested in - Cross Country! It was a race each week for 5 weeks, so we decided to give it a whirl. First was Calvin's race with kindergarteners for 1000 meters, parents were allowed to run with their kids, so Joe did that. Then Mina ran with 1st - 3rd grade girls, for a little further. They both did great and got a ribbon delivered to them at school for their placement - even if it was 19th! Very fun!

Mayzie's First Day of Preschool
I am so excited this year to participate in a Joy School for Mayzie! Joy School is a home based preschool that mom's take turns teaching to their kids! The whole curriculum is online and the main focus is on JOY, how cool is that?! Mayzie was super excited to start and has loved learning the songs and all the ways we can have joy! I end up teaching every 5th week, since we have 5 families doing it.
This is before her first day...
And here she is after! Totally tuckered out!

First Day of School
Mina started 1st grade this year and Calvin started kindergarten! It's so fun to see them go together. Their classrooms are just down the hall from each other and they have a recess they both are out at. It's been little lonely for Mayzie, but soon enough, we'll have baby brother to keep her company!
Here they are in front of the school
And Calvin in his class room! He was very excited to start school. We had a few moments of sadness, but overall he loves it! He's made lots of new friends and loves his teacher!

Mina's 7th Birthday!
Since Mina's birthday was on a Wednesday, the second day of school, we celebrated on the Saturday before so she could be "the QUEEN of the day!" We started out with our tradition of breakfast in bed, doughnuts and fruit.
Then Mina did some present opening...
She got a lunch box, a bank, clothes, a magic 8 ball, books, and some fake lips and mustaches!
Then we went for a bike ride/run
For dinner, the queen wanted calzones...
with more candles...
And a mint chip caterpillar for dessert, yum!
We had lots of questions for the magic 8 ball... and it was pretty funny to see how well the kids "believed" it's answers!
Some pics of the kids spiffed up for church the next day
And a last picture of the 4 summer buddies! School started the next day!
