Mom visit!

My Mom came to visit us for a weekend!  Yay!  It was so great to have her here and check out our new town!
We took her to the big booming downtown Minot and got to explore some of the fun stores.
 Had some lunch...

 And pose for more pics!
On our way back home we saw the turkeys!  There are wild turkeys that we see on the hill just a couple blocks from our house.  They must have come out to see Grandma!

 Aren't they so... cute?
The snow is piling up!  It never melts here, so the pile from shoveling the driveway is over 5 feet tall.  Fun for the kids to play on, when it's not too cold out.
For dinner we went to this restaurant that has a buffalo you can sit on.  Cute, huh?
We had a great visit with my Mom, although too short.  I know she'll be back soon!

Vacancy

We officially have a guest room!  Please come to visit us and you can stay in it!  My Mom came to visit this month so we were motivated to get it ready!  It had 2 layers of old wallpaper and borders to remove.  This took many nightmarish HOURS of scraping, peeling, and steaming.  The walls were awful, the wallpaper came down with lots of chunk of the drywall, as you can see below.  Then there was scrubbing, sanding, patching, priming, and finally painting!  I have never been so excited to paint in my life!  I am so glad it's all done and really to receive guests!  Please come visit!
 Good-bye wallpaper and borders!

Undie count

As I was folding laundry recently, I noticed something.  The number of pairs of undies that each of the kids had varied.  One day Mina had 14, Calvin 6, and Mayzie 22.  Hmm.

What is Mayzie wearing?

As you have looked through our blog, you may have noticed that Mayzie is often in her bathing suit.  I really cannot offer an explanation, other than she just loves to be in her bathing suit.  I will help her get dressed in the morning, in clothes, and then at some point, she goes back into her room and puts on her bathing suit!  She even likes to trick us at night by keeping it on under her p.j.s, like the pic below.  Apparently, bathing suits are good for dancing, she's told me.  She does like to dance a lot lately.  She also has swimming lessons 2 days a week, but then we take it off, because it's wet.  So, lucky for the rest of us, she is super cute in a bathing suit, so we don't mind.

Dancing to the Chipmunks!

For Christmas, Mayzie got some Alvin and the Chipmunks music, the movie, and the little stuffed guys!  She loves the chipmunks!  Here she is, and Calvin too, getting her groove on!

Happy New Year!

Again, super low key!  We had a nice dinner, and put the kids to bed at a somewhat normal time.  Happy New Year 2011!
